Dr. Alina Poklad brings a unique blend of expertise in technology and the humanities. She holds master’s degrees in Computer Science from Bridgewater College and in Business and Information Technology from Tallinn University of Technology, along with an MA and PhD in Cultural Studies from Tallinn University, specializing in Disability Studies. Before entering academia, she spent over 17 years as a software developer and database analyst/developer, working across IT, business, public services, and non-profit sectors in both the USA and Europe. Her teaching draws on this extensive professional experience and includes courses such as Cyber Programming, Data Structures and Analysis, Software Engineering, Computer Science I, and Computers/Applications. Her research interests focus on programming, databases, and artificial intelligence—particularly the development of tools like Copilot and chatbots—and how these technologies intersect with broader human and social questions.
